Building Permit
Requirements
Effective July 1,
2008 State Law requires contractors building houses or commercial
structures must have a state contractor license.
1.
911 Address:
A 911 address must be posted before construction is started. The
address must be posted on the construction site before a inspection is
conducted. A copy of the 911 address must be faxed to 426-5630.
2.
Septic Report:
If you are not on city sewer you must obtain a letter from Fitzgerald
Utilities (Wen Howell 426-5293).
3.
Copy of
plat from a surveyor or a copy of the recorded plat from the Clerk of
Courts Office.
4.
Total
square footage of the heated and unheated space.
5.
A
Georgia licensed electrician is required to complete the wiring. If not
on file you must provide a copy of the electrician’s license.
6.
A
licensed air condition installer is required to install the A/C. If not
on file you must provide a copy of the installer’s license.
7.
A
licensed plumber is required to install the plumbing. If not on file
you must provide a copy of the plumber’s license.
8.
A copy
of the house plans.
9.
Copies
of licenses for all subcontractors that you use for the construction of
your structure.
10.
This
Permit Covers:
a.
Temporary service 100 amp only
b.
Foundation inspection
c.
Framing
d.
Rough-In
or wiring: wires in boxes with grounds tied together
e.
Rough-In
plumbing
f.
C, D, &
E will be done at the same time when possible
g.
Electrical, final inspection
11.
If
construction begins before a permit is issued the permit fee doubles.
12.
Any
additional inspections will be $25.00 per inspection.

responsibility to obey all protective land covenants that are applied on
this land.
