Seasonal Temporary Employees

Twelve (12) Ben Hill County students are now working for the County as Seasonal Temporary Employees.

The 5-week program was approved by the Ben Hill County Commission at its June 2nd Regular Meeting; and involves 4-hours per day, 4-days a week.  The students all come from Ben Hill County and were interviewed and in-processed just like other County Employees.  They will be paid the minimum wage with no withholdings.

Four (4) students began work Saturday night supporting the Development Authority of Ben Hill County’s “Summer Nights in the Park”.  This monthly community music festival at Blue & Gray Park is free to the public, and gives small vendors an opportunity to sell products and jump-start their businesses.   The remainder began work today; serving in various county departments and services.

As part of their orientation, the students were given rules to follow that mirror what all their future employers will expect:

Show up on time and ready to work

Dress appropriately

Respond to supervisors

Get along with co-workers

Be willing to learn

“This program is a win-win for everyone,” said Ben Hill County Commission Chairman Philip C. Jay, III. “The students are given a real job, work experience, and a paycheck. The community benefits from them being employed and productive.”
