The Development Authority of Ben Hill County will partner with the Alapaha Tutoring Center for the 2015 Summer Lunch Program.
The Development Authority of Ben Hill County will partner with the Alapaha Tutoring Center again this summer.

Each summer, children wait for the last bell of the school year. Summer is an exciting time for children to enjoy playtime with friends, a week at camp, a family vacation, or time at the pool. But for many children summer can mean hunger. Just as learning does not end when school lets out, neither does a child’s need for good nutrition.

Your organization could provide free meals to children during the summer as part of the USDA Summer Food Service Program. The program will begin June 1, 2015 and run through July 31, 2015 (Monday-Friday). Breakfast and Lunch will be served.

The Summer Lunch program is sponsored by USDA and administered by Bright from the Start through the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning. The goal of this program is to ensure that children and adults throughout Georgia have access to nutritious meals during the summer, while school is not in session. For more information about the summer lunch program, contact Wilhelmina Smith SFSP Program Administrator @ 229-425-2463 or Courtney Whitman @ 229-426-5100.
