Administration
The Administration office is charged with preparing and over seeing a budget for all County Departments.  All bills for County departments are paid through our accounts payable department.  All County employee's are paid through our payroll department.

Animal Control
The Animal Control Department provides service to the county whereas the City Animal Control Department serves residents within the city limits.  Some of the functions provided by the County Animal Control office are stray or surrendered animal pick up, livestock removal from public roads and neglected animal investigation.

Building Maintenance
The Building Maintenance Department maintains all county buildings and grounds, conducts inspection of the quality of county owned wells and water supply and enforces county ordinances not handled by the Sheriff's Office, i.e. illegal dumping, abandoned or junked cars, old appliances, etc.

Board of Commissioners
The Board of Commissioners are elected to represent the people of Ben Hill County.  They spend time talking with constituents and gather information to help them make sound, effective business decisions.  Commissioners host and attend regular meetings, including the monthly commission meeting and public hearings.  They are responsible for reviewing and approving County budgets.  They are available to help constituents understand State and federally mandated programs.

Coroner
The Coroner investigates deaths that occur in Ben Hill County which are a result of violence, suicide, and good health, suspicious or unusual manner.  The coroner's major role in an investigation is to establish the cause and manner of death. 

Elections
The Board of Elections office provides registeration for all eligible voters, provide free voter id's, maintains districting maps for Ben Hill County and the City of Fitzgerald.  They also physically conduct all Federal, State and County wide elections, maintain election results, and uphold election laws regarding registration and voting

EMA
The Ben Hill County EMA program's purpose is to increase the County’s resiliency and to increase its ability to respond and recover from the hazards that threaten it. This is done through mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery, which is a combined effort with EMS, E-911, police and Sheriff's departments, fire department and the volunteer fire department.

EMS
Ben Hill County EMS provides Advanced Life Support care to the citizens of Ben Hill County. They operate 2 ambulances per day, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. When there is a need, EMS will also provide transportation out of the area for patients who require care that is not available at Dorminy Medical Center.

Cooperative Extension Office
The Cooperative Extension is a unique partnership in education, in which the University Of Georgia cooperates with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and local county governments in bringing resources to help find solutions to the problems and needs of Ben Hill Countians and all Georgians.  The Coop Extension Office provides an informal, educational service through which knowledge is transmitted or communicated directly to the people. Our programs are practical, problem-centered and situation-based.

Health Department
Ben Hill County Health Department provides Immunization, WIC, Family Planning (Contraception), Child Health Physicals, Breast and Cervical Cancer Screenings, Pregnancy Tests, Perinatal Case Management, Sexually Transmitted Disease testing and treatment, and Environmental services, including restaurant inspection, septic tank installment, and animal bite follow-up.  Services are provided on a sliding scale based on household income.  We believe that the keys to better health in Ben Hill County are: PREVENTION (of diseases); PROMOTION (of healthy lifestyles); and PROTECTION (monitoring health hazzards)

Magistrate Court
The Magistrate Court of Ben Hill County is an informal court with limited jurisdiction for individuals & businesses to pursue civil claims where exclusive jurisdiction is not vested in superior court.  Preliminary hearings, the granting of bail in all but serious offenses, the issuance of arrest warrants and search warrants and county ordinance enforcement are with in the jurisdiction of the Magistrate Court.  There are no jury trials in Magistrate Court.

E911
Ben Hill County 911 handles all emergency calls and dispatches all emergency personnel, such as police, sheriff's department, EMS, fire department and volunteer fire department as needed

Road Department

Senior Citizen's Center
The Senior Citizen center has numerous activities for seniors, such as bingo, fish fry's, quilting and so much more.  All seniors are encouraged to come out and take part in the fun activities and make new friends.  The Center is also a place for Ben Hill County citizens to meet for Community events and meetings.  If you have an event or meeting that you would like to schedule at the Senior Citizen Center you can contact Cathy Posey at the Center for more information.

Sherriff's Department
The Sheriff's Office is mandated by the Georgia State Constitution and by legislative laws. The Sheriff is the chief law enforcement officer in the county. The Sheriff is responsible for Law Enforcement, Courtoom Security, Civil Processes, Operation of the county jail, Settling Land Disputes, Sex Offender Registration, approving bonds, and many more duties spelled out by law. All deputy sheriffs get their authority from the Sheriff and have the same authority as the Sheriff.
